THERE WERE TEARS IN THE WILDERNESS

You're familiar with the warnings of those that complained in the wilderness season when they fled Egypt, right? Most of us are and if you're like me, perhaps you double down your efforts to NEVER be a complainer and always have a "thankful heart"; even when things get really rough.

We cover up our worry, doubts, fears and we hide the tears because we want to be strong; we desire to please God. I have heard the preaching on the warnings of those "complainers and doubters" in the wilderness for years and never wanted to disappoint God by acting like them whenever times got intense in my life.

Then one day, the Lord revealed to me these sweet words, "There were tears in the wilderness". Wait, what? You mean its OK to have fear, doubt and tears as we walk out our faith and trust in you?

Can you picture the mother wondering where her next meal would come from to feed her hungry children as they traveled through the dessert with no home? The man who has no idea what his next purpose is going to be and just left everything behind to walk into the unknown. There must have been those who had tears but simply trusted that God must know what he is doing in this process.

That is faith; Not entrusting our own perfection and performance but quietly surrendering to the unknown and trusting the One who knows it all; from the beginning to the very end. And YES, your quiet faith can be filled with tears and it's still pleasing in His sight.

"You see the depths of my heart and you love me the same" Psalm 139:23
